We Pledge to Help You Start Each Day Right

Post Foods was established on the principle that good nutrition can change the way we feel, look, and perform. Founder C.W. Post played a key role in creating breakfast as we know it today, based on the simple idea that having whole grains in your morning meal is essential to your health. The bowl of cereal you pour yourself each morning is a part of a story that began more than 100 years ago, and will continue to improve for years to come.

Enjoying the Health Benefits of Post Goodness…

Helping you be healthy each day is rewarding for us and it’s in our roots. Post Foods was literally created to enhance health. In the late 1800’s, C.W. Post created one of the original breakfast cereals, Grape-Nuts, to help people with their digestive health. Back in those days, people ate mostly meat and refined carbs like biscuits and pancakes, which took its toll on peoples’ digestive health. Grape-Nuts was, and still is, a tasty, convenient way to get the nutritional benefits of whole grains and fiber, which enhance digestive health and help you feel your best. Over the years, we’ve learned even more about the health benefits of a diet rich in grains. Eating grains —particularly whole grains—can help you meet your daily nutrient needs and provides broad-reaching health benefits. Whole grains are important sources of many nutrients, including dietary fiber, several B vitamins, minerals, and natural antioxidants. Peer-reviewed scientific studies show major health problems, from heart disease and obesity to diabetes and cancer, occur less frequently with a diet rich in whole grains. So, today, we know the benefits of what C.W. Post created reach far beyond digestive health.

…While Keeping the Fun in Breakfast!

Breakfast is key to our emotional wellness and being able to look forward to great tasting foods you can feel good about is an important part of the equation. Post Foods remains dedicated to improving in order to meet your changing needs, and to helping make breakfast a meal to look forward to no matter your preferences. At the heart of Post Foods’ core values is the ability to offer something for everyone and to help nourish families through the years. Today, we produce a wide variety of tasty foods ranging from whole grain cereals like Grape-Nuts, Great Grains, Post Shredded Wheat and Post Raisin Bran, to the delicious varieties of Honey Bunches of Oats, Honeycomb and Alpha-Bits, to flavor-packed Pebbles and Golden Crisp cereals. Today, Post Foods’ breadth of offerings appeals to people of all ages, whether they’re looking to eat healthier or satisfy a sweet tooth.

Post Goodness Today

We believe whole grains are an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. We also believe that sugar in moderation brings fun to breakfast. Our belief in the goodness of whole grains is reflected by the many Post cereals whose first ingredient is a whole grain, including Post Shredded Wheat, Grape-Nuts, Post Raisin Bran, Great Grains, and Alpha-Bits. For those seeking to limit the amount of sugar in their diet, Grape-Nuts and Post Shredded Wheat feature pure whole grains that taste great alone, or can be sweetened with your favorite sweetener such as fresh fruit, agave or honey.

Additionally, Post Foods upgraded the Alpha-Bits on shelves today to have a more nutritious formula than the original cereal launched more than 50 years ago. The cereal now has 20 grams of whole grain, only six grams of sugar and 12 essential vitamins and minerals per serving.

Grape-Nuts was our first whole grain and fiber rich cereal, but we have continued to expand our offerings. Post Foods now offers more ways than ever before to help people of all ages include the daily-recommended serving of whole grains and fiber into their diet.

Sweeten Up with Post Goodness

Post Foods voluntarily reduced sugar content in many of our children’s cereals to 10 grams or fewer per serving, in commitment to the Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative. Cereals with reduced sugar content include Alpha-Bits, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles and Honeycomb. Even though we have been steadily decreasing the sugar in all of our varieties of sweetened cereals for years now, taste has never been compromised, as we always strive to deliver the best flavors in all of our cereals.

As a proud producer of one of America’s most popular cereals, Honey Bunches of Oats, we are excited to delight people every day with only six grams of sugar in Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted, and an unparalleled delicious taste—that’s even less sugar than those other guys with the honey-flavored O’s! In fact, many people assume Honey Bunches of Oats contains more sugar because of its great taste, but our magic is in the mix. Honey Bunches of Oats mixes classic Post “sugar sparkle flakes” with unsweetened flakes and granola to deliver the sweetness. The trick is simple—by putting sugar on only a few of the flakes, your tongue tastes it more!

Power-Packed Protein in Every Bowl

In recent years, Americans have tuned in to the added value of protein in their diets. To help meet these protein needs, Post Foods recently launched several new products with added protein: Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy in Chocolatey Almond Crunch and Cinnamon Crunch; Grape-Nuts Fit; Great Grains Protein Blend in Cinnamon Hazelnut and Honey, Oats & Seeds. Post Foods has now made it easier than ever to enjoy a protein-packed breakfast on-the-go with new Post Goodness-To-Go. Available in three flavors, Dutch Chocolate, Tahitian Vanilla and Mocha, these delicious beverages are the convenient way to fuel up on the goodness of Post Foods at breakfast time or anytime. Additionally, by 2015 we will deliver several portable protein solutions including Great Grains and Goodness-To-Go snack mixes.

Why? Because we believe in the benefits of protein throughout the day. Did you know some cereals, such as Great Grains Protein Blend cereals, with a cup of milk actually provide the same protein as a Greek yogurt—about 15 grams? So, next time you pour a bowl of cereal, don’t forget the milk!

Post Goodness Has Something For Everyone

As you may have heard, in early 2014, Post Foods introduced non-GMO Grape-Nuts, which have been verified by the Non-GMO Project. In the future, we will be verifying additional brands to be non-GMO —a topic we know is important to many of you. We also want our consumers to understand that our 100% whole wheat products like Post Shredded Wheat are good options for those interested in non-GMO foods, as the wheat in all Post products is not genetically modified.

Another lesser-known fact is that both Post Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles are gluten-free. As Post Foods’only rice-based cereal, these varieties are made with gluten-free ingredients and are safe for consumption by those with gluten sensitivities.

The Future of Post Foods

As Post Foods continues to evolve with Americans’ tastes, we are committed to introducing new foods, with beneficial ingredients and delicious flavors, and new varieties ensuring each mouthful nourishes the goodness you have come to know and recognize from Post Foods over the past 100 years. And while we continue to improve, you can count on tastier, more convenient ways to enhance your well being with the health benefits of whole grain.

We pledge to continue to focus our resources on developing products that deliver the health benefits of whole grains and protein with great taste. In 2015, Post will introduce a new variety of America’s favorite cereal and our most popular brand, Honey Bunches of Oats, that features whole grains, including 33 grams of whole grains per serving.

Our nutrition pledge will focus on products that are easy to find, carry, and consume.

  1. We will stay a step ahead of the game on everything you need to enhance your health — from vitamins and minerals to botanical extracts and of course, whole grains!
  2. Expect us to continue to raise the bar on taste with great flavor combinations and fun experiences that include sugar in moderation.
  3. Since you are constantly on the move, we are always looking for convenient ways for you to enjoy Post Goodness.
  4. We’re also committed to staying contemporary with consumers’ desire to add the benefits of protein to their diet and so, it’s only natural that we continue to expand our protein offerings.

Goodness Today, and Every Day

Today, Post Foods is a company committed to the same principles of “goodness in every bowl” that drove its founder to greatness. Each day, Post Foods serves innovative and delicious foods to meet your needs. This is our pledge, and we’ve put it down on paper in order to make a commitment—to each other and to you—to help you have the best start to each day!
